Oktoberfest
Ten years ago, a small group of educators were trying to find a better way to raise money for a scholarship to be given to a student who might be interested in the field of education. Usually one scholarship was given and it was a modest amount. The idea of having a fall Oktoberfest celebration similar to the European countries and many US cities was hatched. For the past 10 years, Evanston has enjoyed its own celebration and it has resulted in many thousands of dollars donated to EHS graduating seniors.
Celebrating 10 years of success, Oktoberfest 2008 will be on October 25th from 6 to 11 PM at the Evanston Machine Shop, and will include German food & drink, German music, games, contests, a dessert auction and many wonderful door prizes. Dinner will be served fro 6:30 to 8:30, and will be catered by Michael's Bar & Grill.
Come and support this wonderful community event. Twelve Evanston High School seniors were awarded scholarships and five were named after special donors who gave so generously in 2007:
Buzarde Family Scholarship
Dub Mills Scholarship
BP Corporate Scholarship
Joy Bell & Jim Hill Scholarship
Ann Bell Scholarship
EEA Oktoberfest Scholarships now donate more money than any other scholarships at Evanston High School, and are given to seniors who go into education, or are involved in their community, or can show a financial need.
Thde EEA thanks everyone for the community support and we hope you will join us on October 25th at the Machine Shop for Oktoberfest 2008! Questions? Call Deb Allport , 2008 oktoberfest Chair @ EHS - 789-0757.
